'patriots' will prevent anything substantive being done about global
warming until, in 200-300 years, the planet warms up enough that the
atmosphere off-gases. You won't be able to propagandize your way out of
that one.

That's more difficult for me, particularly when "directly" confronted by
a raving lunatic. I must admit that I get a great deal of pleasure from

The only thing that keeps me in usenet is my utter disdain for web-based
messaging, whether it be email or "discussion" groups. I MUCH prefer a
dedicated newsreader such as the one I'm using now - and have for years:
MT-NewsWatcher.

Thank goodness for filters.

Absolutely. I have mine well "trained" so that the signal:noise ratio
is excellent. It wasn't until I kill-filed anything that came from
Google that usenet was tolerable again. Google may be the 800-lb
gorilla of search engines and "free" email, but they make virtually no
effective effort at denying access to spammers and literally every
miscreant to come down the pike.

I use Thunderbird.

But for mail, I am using Apple Mail because it so neatly integrates with
address book.
