I can't begin to tell you what a thrill it has been to become a part of Omaha
- because it HASN'T been!!
I'm sure many long time Omaha residents are smug in their satisfaction that we
now "enjoy" the same paltry snow removal service they have come to expect.
I just got an email from a mail order business from which I ordered
merchandise a day ago. I ordered a new return address stamp with OMAHA as my
address and ordered it shipped to the SAME address.
The company's query: Is my address "Elkhorn" or "Omaha"?
They explained that their UPS program, based on my (unchanged) ZIP code says
I'm "Elkhorn" and that UPS charges a $10 correction fee if the address is
wrong.
I told them to send it to Elkhorn.
The annexation was completed almost a YEAR AGO!! The City of Omaha has
changed hundreds of street signs and forced nearly as many residents to change
their house number. This is surely something that UPS is contending with and
probably has been for months.
I should have known something was amiss: The City of Omaha sent my (first)
bill for licensing my dog to my ELKHORN address.
Sheesh!
