So many eons ago there was a number you could call to see who your
default 1+ carrier really is.

Still, there, and if so, what is it?

Thanks.

I tried a couple of numbers retrieved from my VERY vague memory. I haven't
used that function for YEARS. Each attempt was intercepted by a machine, "I'm
sorry...".

I'll ask around at work. I think it's gone.

Also, the old, 3-digit access to the ID function is going away fast. I
believe it died out here when we cut to a standalone 5ESS. I don't even know
WHERE it still works as I have memorized the 1+877... access to a nifty, new
(and probably underutilized by me) test computer. It's basic function is to
speak-back the line ID, including the NPA. After that, with the hardcopy
menus and instructions in front of me, I could do all manner of kewl and
Earth-shaking stuff - none of which I recall having ever done with it.
